cancellation by anchor
The mail agents aboard vessels received postage stamps only in 1857. It is from this date when we meet the cancellation "anchor" common to all the vessels. The rate of the letters of the East for France is of 1franc for 7 g 1/2, but a circular of January, 1857 reduces the tax in 50c for letters freed(franked) with postage stamps. The stamp in date contains the name of the vessel.
