CAMP OF SATHONAY
MARSHAL OF CASTELLANE CREATOR OF the CAMP OF SATHONAY IN 1852
Enlisted in 16 years, the day of the crowning of Napoleon 1st, Victor, Boniface, count of Castellane was born on March 21st, 1788 in Paris. 22-year-old captain, Castellane makes the campaign(countryside) of Russia and fight then in Dresden, Mainz and in Champagne. Much more late, in 1848, Louis-Philippe gives him the command of the army of Lyon.
Napoleon III names him Marshal of France on December 2nd, 1852.
It is him who decides on the creation of a military camp to Sathonay where the first troops settle down in June, 1853.
He dies on September 16th, 1862.
